A New Contributor

My name is Blais, I go by Mastershake on most forums, and Haydn has invited me to post on this blog. Unfortunately I've never blogged before, so good times should be had by all as I fumble around. I'm from the good ol USA, more specifically the home city of Wyrd Miniatures and Cool Mini or Not. I've been playing the angry elves since shortly after the faction's release and have run all of the casters (and taken all of them to events) and most of the models in the range. As an introductory post I'd like to start with something near and dear to my heart, the Ravyn list. I've been asked about it in a number of threads and PMs, so many that I did a centralized post on the PP forums, but I'd like to repost it here. It's one thing to simply throw out a list, but this gives a complete rundown of everything in the list and why it's there. I've taken it to a number of events from Warmachine Weekend to local tournaments and done respectably at all of them. More than that though, the list is just fun to play. Balancing the ranged units and maximizing their capabilites is an interesting challenge, much more so than simply throwing weapon masters at something until it dies and even in defeat Ravyn can be a fun caster to play if you just let her go nuts on the enemy army. As a fun anecdote, some friends from my local gaming group went to adepticon this year (I was unable to attend due to work) and they were describing their experiences against the Retribution. When a fellow gamer asked them about the army, they described it and he responded "Oh, the Mastershake list".
